BIOGRAPHY

After many years toiling(1) as a municipal worker, Lisa’s inner child continued to dream of one day being a writer, specifically a novelist.  While shuffling papers and fantasizing about food or beverage,(2) her subconscious worked on developing a novel.  A crisis or two gave her the subject matter she’d been waiting for, and a handsome young waiter at a Rhode Island retreat gave her the impetus to begin.  Said young man only appears in Chapters Two and Three, but his impression begat life-changing events for Lisa.

Lisa credits her talent to her father T. Patrick (sic) and his Irish ancestry, combined with an anxiety condition called “depersonalization” – which ironically was passed down by the same genes.  However, some due must be given to numerous bottles of red wine which, once imbibed (in multiple sittings, of course) caused dramatic flourishes of pen and keyboard resulting in the aforementioned novel, The Invisible Visitor.

A self-professed dullard, Lisa enjoys spending time alone, or in the company of one handsome, funny or charismatic young man.  Although many use her “love of writing” in analogies, such as “Just as you love writing, I love…” it is true that Lisa does not love writing, but rather enjoys reading what she has written.  Writing is merely a way of manipulating characters into specific situations whereas in life this is either not possible or moral.  Reading is the fruit one’s labors, writing is toiling(3) on one’s knees.

Lisa hasn’t a real desire to be author a best seller.  She would die, simply die, if she were to appear on Oprah and be required to promote a selection from Winfrey’s Book Club.  Nay, the real goal is to make a comfortable living off of her writing and, if possible, inspire another to see life from a different perspective.

Lisa has been influenced by Franz Kafka, Vladimir Nabokov, and many “no-name” writers from old hardbacks from the turn of the century found in thrift stores.

Lisa lives in Connecticut with her beloved cat, several books, useless crap, a partially broken heart, and lofty ideals.
